GOPAL'S DEATH

Gopal is a criminal detention Royal Malaysian Police ( RMP) who died during the 5 days in jail custody on suspicion of robbing a car. Gopal family claims he was tortured to death while in police custody .

His case was then classified as a homicide by the Attorney General , and the Chief of Police has promised a full investigation into the death of Gopal .

Initial autopsy declared the cause of death as acute pulmonary edema ( fluid accumulation in the lungs ) , but Kugan's family claims other scratches and bruises on her body is evidence had been tortured .

The second autopsy was later conducted and found the cause of death was due to muscle damage rhabdomyolysis and acute renal failure and also revealed Gopal had 45 external injuries and internal injuries .

Judge claimed that the police are responsible for the death of Gopal and interrogating officer , had failed to ensure the safety , health and welfare Kugan while he is in custody. Police officers need to investigate criminals and not make themselves become criminals.

Police stations and jails should be a safe place for every human being and can not be turned into a crime scene . The police need to regain the respect of the public .

Police officers should be disciplined , professional and intelligent . But these offenses should be a lesson to not happen again . Thus society should not look negatively on all police because there are many officers who act professionally and ethically.

Police chief should also correct the press her statement was made that Gopal died from the water in the lungs because the second autopsy report revealed that he had 45 external injuries on his body.

The police and the government is responsible for the death of Gopal as on the job and police interrogations should not act beyond the power to cause injury to the offender .

The police also failed to ensure the safety , health and welfare Gopal while he was in police custody.

Gopal , however, is still a criminal. Therefore not impossible that some parties are not satisfied with it and even the police guilty in this case but if examined in terms of a possible criminal record Gopal should receive a response commensurate with the offense committed. Regular criminals should be punished.
